CitySquash's Summer Vacation Program

Many of us are fortunate enough to look forward to a vacation every summer, a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, like all too many young people from low-income communities in New York, CitySquash students rarely enjoy the quintessential summer experiences that should be a part of every childhood — running outside in bare feet, reading by the pool, having a barbecue, catching fireflies.

Through Summer Match, we ask you to join CitySquash in giving our children a different kind of summer. We ask you to welcome one or more students into your home to spend a weekend or longer with your family. Not only will you make a difference in a child’s life, you will also enrich your family's summer.

How exactly does Summer Match work?

When families host CitySquashers in July, they typically do so for three nights, from Thursday evening through Sunday. In August, families have the option of hosting for a weekend, a full week or longer. We will work with you to schedule the dates and to identify a student (or students) who will be a good match for your family. CitySquash will also assist in arranging transportation to and from your home.
