College Interns

CitySquash is currently looking for an Academic Enrichment Intern and a Squash Intern.  Descriptions of both internships are listed below.  If you would like to apply, please send a cover letter and resume to Michael Shrubb at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).  Please be sure to specify which internship you are applying for.  Both internships are open to college students only.

Academic Enrichment Intern

The Academic Enrichment Intern will work directly with students as a tutor and do curriculum planning and instruction. The intern will be responsible for creating and implementing a curriculum that provides remedial academic enrichment for our under-achieving students and a curriculum that provides test preparation for our higher-achieving students. This will include SSAT preparation for our 8th graders who wish to apply to boarding schools in the fall as well as SAT preparation for our college-bound students entering their senior year in high school.

The intern will also be responsible for traveling with our team members to tournaments and on field trips as a chaperone, and doing one or two overnight weekends trips with the program. The intern will also be responsible for helping to plan overnight college trips for CitySquash's high school students.

The intern will work in our Learning Center on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, and in a Fordham University classroom for academic sessions. The intern will work from either 9pm-5pm or 10am-6pm Monday through Friday.  The internship will be eight weeks. Although the start and end dates are flexible, the ideal 8-week period would be to start Monday, June 13 and end Friday, August 5.

Squash Intern

The squash intern will work directly with students as a coach and will assist the squash staff in organizing and running squash practices. The squash intern will also be responsible for overseeing high school volunteers at squash practices.  The intern will travel with our team members to tournaments and on field trips as a chaperone, and will attend one or two overnight weekends trips with the program. The squash intern may also be required to drive students to and from practices and tournaments (thus a drivers license is required). Knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required.

The intern will be based in our office on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, but will run practices on the courts at Fordham University. The intern will work from either 9pm-5pm or 10am-6pm Monday through Friday.  The internship will be eight weeks. Although the start and end dates are flexible, the ideal 8-week period would be Monday, June 13 through Friday, August 5.

The internship is open to college squash players only.
